Ping’s Hair Salon

Brand Identity | Rebranding
April 2024

Ping Hair Express* is an family owned hair salon located in one of the tower blocks off the main walkway of Victoria Avenue in the bustling suburb of Chatswood, Sydney.

*This case study explores the rebranding of Ping Hair Express to Ping’s Hair Salon that better reflects the salon's unique identity and target audience

Design Analysis

Ping Hair Express’ signage is straightforward, with the words ‘Ping Hair Express’ in two different typefaces. The red colour utilised for its logo are striking and eye catching however, not very inviting or evocative of a hair salon. The salon also does not have an online presence (i.e. Google Maps presence or social media account), making it extremely localised, limited to the residents around Chatswood and promotion through word of mouth.

Therefore, the redesign should evoke a sense of establishment and trustworthiness, while resonating with the new refocused demographic: women who value hair care quality and efficiency. Finally, the name of the business will have to be amended because utilizing the word ‘Express’ that may evoke a hairdressing job that is quick and efficient but lacking in quality.
