The Great Murray River Salami Festival is an annual Salami Festival in Euston, NSW which celebrates the scrumptious salami with delectable tastings, exciting live demonstrations, and a smashing showdown between salami makers for all to enjoy. This project’s aim is to elevate the event’s status and offer a refreshing update to the event’s existing website.
Why Redesign?
Upon research of the website, the main focus of the festival is quite unclear due to its overall aesthetics and information available on their main page. The first impression from the website is that it is a general family event however, there is a lack of emphasis of the ‘salami’ despite it being in the event’s name.
Revised Map of The Great Murray River Salami Festival Website
My proposal is to only have 6 pages (home page included) – two of which are the detailed pages of the separate events: the Salami Showdown and the Salami Feast. The homepage summarises the important events and information for people who do not have time to go through each page. The News and Gallery pages provide extra information about the event but does not encapsulate the whole event, just parts of it.
Current Map of The Great Murray River Salami Festival Website
Although navigation around the website is fairly straightforward, there are simply too many pages, most of which can be combined such as the “Tips” and “Recipes” for making Salami and removing “The Event” and “Sponsors” page altogether and just placing all the relevant information about the event onto the home page.
Home Page Comparison
This image illustrates the original homepage on the left and the revised version on the right. The main issues that were revised were the lack of written information available on the homepage and were only accessible via. the video which is inconvenient.
